international activities

CIPFA is the only accountancy body in the world for public services. We act globally to improve public financial management through professionalisation, standards and a range of advisory services.

As the global body for public finance we play an active role in developing standards, including International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS), to improve transparency and accountancy in public financial management. Our members and staff actively participate in the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and the Fédération des Experts Comptables Européens (FEE).

Our Whole System Approach publication provides the definitive model for a system of public financial management that improves public services and supports long-term stability. Our report Fixing the Foundations, addresses the consequences of the global financial crisis and calls for action for a step change to improve financial management in governments.

In collaboration with partners including governments, supreme audit institutions, national professional accountancy organisations, local training bodies, consultancies we provide qualifications and support professionalisation and capacity building around the world. We can help build a public finance profession from scratch or, where the profession is more developed, offer a range of advisory services and training.
