The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) is pleased to announce that Alan Edwards has been appointed CIPFA's International Director. Alan has been acting in the role, on an interim basis, for the past four months.
Alan has a background in both public service and consultancy roles as well as experience in non-executive roles in both the health and police services. He has 15 years experience of government advisory work at a range of professional services firms. He has been a Partner at both PwC and KPMG in their public sector practices. Alan was also the Civil Government Industry Leader for IBM responsible for their consulting and systems integration work in UK central and local government.
He has been an active CIPFA member and was an elected member of CIPFA’s Council. He is stepping down from his membership of the Institute Council in order to take on this role.
Alan will be building on CIPFA's international work to date, which includes projects to support public financial management professionals in countries including Lesotho, Tanzania, South Africa, Nigeria, Serbia, Kosovo, Slovenia and Canada. He will also be leading the Institute's preparations for its first international conference on trust and accountability in public financial management, set to take place from 15 - 17 March 2011 in London.
