training for public sector finance and accounting qualification to expand

10-11-2010

The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) has selected Kaplan to be the sole provider of training for their qualification along with their own in house Education and Training Centre (CETC).  The CIPFA qualification is the only one worldwide designed and developed for the public sector.

Partnering with Kaplan, the leading innovator in the delivery of training for professional qualifications, will make the CIPFA qualification more widely available and with a greater choice of study methods.

CETC will expand its classroom-based delivery, with plans to open new teaching centres in the North, the South West and the East of England. Kaplan will offer Live Online tuition as an alternative or supplement to classroom-based study for anyone with access to the internet.  Scheduled classes allow tutors and students to connect through both live audio and chat rooms to encourage active discussion and interactive learning in real time.  One tutor delivers the lecture while a second tutor responds to students with immediate answers to their questions via Instant Messaging

Kaplan’s Live Online sessions will also be recorded and made available to students on demand. The programme may be supplemented by classroom-based revision courses, subject to demand.

Employers and students alike will benefit because the new offerings allow savings on travel and other subsistence-related costs.

CIPFA and Kaplan will work to promote on-line tuition as the basis of an expanded international presence for the qualification. CIPFA already works in a number of countries in Europe and Africa and the new Kaplan delivery system will make it much easier for students from all over the world to begin their studies.

CIPFA is working with current providers to map out transitional arrangements for students currently part-way through their studies. CETC will be working with these organisations to maintain or replace provision to ensure any potential disruption is kept to an absolute minimum.

Giles Orr, Head of CIPFA’s Education and Training Centre said:

‘CIPFA and Kaplan together will be offering future generations of students the best possible value and the highest degree of flexibility. I’m delighted the future of the CIPFA qualification is in such excellent hands’

Peter Anderson, Kaplan Financial Director said:
'Kaplan is delighted to have been chosen as CIPFA's exclusive training partner. We are looking forward to bringing our innovative learning solutions to the critically important area of public financial management.'
