Rob Whiteman, CEO of CIPFA, commented on the government’s whitepaper ‘The United Kingdom’s exit from and new partnership with the European Union’: "The government has clarified its position at high level, and so its next and more difficult challenge is to translate these objectives into proposals that are analysed, modelled and delivered.
"Sadly the UK will not achieve everything it desires, and so the government needs capacity to understand the trade-offs in terms of their societal and fiscal impacts.
"For public services reliant on EU workers, the most pressing issue is to understand the likely end point and develop plans to achieve service continuity."
