IFRS

\forum report

CIPFA and ICAEW held a second IFRS Forum on 16 February 2009 on the implementation of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in the government sector.  The focus of this forum was on opening balance sheets (Trigger Point 1) and the first audit review (Trigger Point 2) .

The Forum was chaired by Martin Sinclair,  chair of CIPFA's Accounting and Auditing Standards Panel and a member of the Financial Reporting Advisory Board (FRAB). Speakers from central government, health and Scotland provided perspectives on implementation issues for balance sheet preparers, while Andrew Baigent from the National Audit Office summarised the results of the audit review, issues arising and the way forward. Two workshop discussions considered issues arising from PFI projects and more generally.
