Qualifications

CIPFA is the world’s only professional accountancy body to specialise in the public service. Our portfolio of qualifications includes the global gold standard professional qualification for public sector accountants, auditors and budget specialists. For students outside the UK we offer a range of qualifications in accounting, auditing and public financial management more generally, including our International Certificates and Diplomas in Public Sector Accounting and Auditing.

CIPFA works through carefully selected partner bodies to deliver its PFM qualifications outside the UK. In Eastern Europe our preferred partner is the Center of Excellence in Finance in Ljubljana, Slovenia. In South Africa we work closely with our sister body, the Institute for Public Finance and Auditing in Pretoria. In Lesotho the Lesotho Institute of Accountants and the Centre for Accounting Studies provide tuition leading to the award of a joint qualification from CIPFA and LIA. In Nigeria we are developing a joint qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, with education and training to be delivered through the Federal Treasury Academy in Orozo, near Abuja.

Delivery of CIPFA’s qualifications outside the UK is invariably linked to the development of local capacity to provide and maintain professional PFM qualifications and related education and training.
