Brexit
The UK left the EU on 31 January 2020. There is now a transition period until the end of December 2020, while the UK and EU negotiate additional arrangements. The final outcome of negotiations between the EU and the UK is not yet known. Advice to UK citizens living in the EU in the event of the UK leaving without a deal is available on the UK government website. The European Commission website includes an update on the progress of negotiations.
Learning a new language?
One of the big practical issues faced by CIPFA members working in another part of Europe is becoming proficient in the language of their new country. Not only is this essential if working in that language, but it also eases integration and results in a better experience of living in another country.
