North East Accountancy Awards
Nominations for the 2017 North East Accountancy Awards are now open.
Congratulations to the finance team at Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums Service for winning the Public Sector Finance Team of the Year Award at the North East Accountancy Awards 2017, sponsored by CIPFA and CIPFA in the North East. A full list of winners is on the awards website.
2016 was the tenth anniversary of the annual North East Accountancy Awards ceremony, held at the Hilton Hotel in Gateshead. The event is a fantastic opportunity to raise the profile of CIPFA, and a great way to reward outstanding effort made in public finance. Overall there were four CIPFA members on judging panels, and four out of 13 awards were presented by CIPFA members.
CIPFA in the North East sponsored the Public Services Team of the Year award, and there were excellent nominations for this from NECA, National Audit Office, ENGIE and Northumbria Healthcare Trust. The worthy winners were the National Audit Office – well done to them.
Public sector winners didn’t end there, however, with Naz Jabeen from the National Audit Office picking up the award for Accounting Technician of the Year, and another National Audit Office winner, Ashleigh Jackson, picking up her award for New Accountant of the Year.
Finally, the event ended on a superb high with local public finance star Paul Woods picking up the Outstanding Achievement award. Paul has dedicated many years to the City of Newcastle, and is still passionate about the Northeast while continuing to work for the North East Combined Authority. Paul is a worthy winner, and it’s great to see public finance professionals being celebrated for their success and hard work.
