Chairs' forum

A welcome from the chair of the Chairs' Forum.

Through an innovative partnership, CIPFA Northern Ireland provides professional support for the Chairs' Forum – advising the forum on key governance issues affecting public bodies and organising an annual programme of events that helps further the aims of the forum.

A welcome from the Chair of the forum

I would like to congratulate our past chairman, Dr Joe McKee, the general committee and all the members of the forum for all their hard work in 2013-14. I know you will agree that over the last year, we have raised the profile of our work with a series of very successful events.

I was therefore delighted to take up the role of Chair at the AGM in November and in this short time we have had four very successful events:

  1. A governance conference, in partnership with CIPFA with a record 105 people attending.
  2. A briefing session with Kieran Donnelly, the Comptroller and Auditor General.
  3. A joint meeting with the Chief Executives' Forum looking at lessons from relationships at board level in England and Scotland.
  4. A dinner with Simon Hamilton MLA, Minister of Finance, when 18 of our members spent over three hours discussing governance, reform and innovation issues.

As a membership organisation, I would encourage members to participate actively in our various activities. It is time well spent and can really help to add value to your role and to your organisation.

Please note we will have other events during the year, as the need arises. Furthermore, if you do have an idea for an event, or have any queries, do not hesitate to contact Heather Moorhead or Steve Mungavin in the CIPFA office to discuss your needs further.

Thank you in anticipation of your continuing support, I look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event.
