In response to the rapid growth in school academies and the subsequent demand for guidance around academies’ financial requirements, CIPFA has produced this electronic publication, which provides detailed and practical support on accounting for academies. It has been updated to reflect the recent changes announced in the Education Funding Agency’s Academies Accounts Direction, the Academies Financial Handbook, and the Accounts Return.
This guidance sets out the latest financial and legislative framework and the resultant accounting treatment and disclosure required for income and expenditure in the statutory accounts. It also looks at the wider financial environment in respect of the regulations and impact around tax, pensions and property asset management.
This guidance, on CD-ROM, contains a pdf of the publication, together with fully searchable text enabling users to search powerfully and accurately for any given word or phrase. To further assist users, there is also an editable Excel spreadsheet included that suggests an approach to analysing income and expenditure across funds as required by the Charities SORP.
The CD-ROM comes complete with a licence for networking to all established employees of the purchasing public service organisation. Details of licensing arrangements for other categories of purchaser, which includes those organisations operating shared service arrangements, are available from CIPFA Publications firstname.lastname@example.org
