About the Northern Section
The Northern Area includes Cumbria, Lancashire, and parts of Manchester and Merseyside that lie north of the River Mersey dividing line.
The current Chair of the section is Barry Parsonage, re3cently retireed from the post of Executive Director at Wyre 
Borough Council. Barry has worked in a number of local authorities in the North West of England, but also spent three years with the Accounts Commission in Scotland.
CIPFA activities have included Chairman of Audit Group, Secretary of Senior Management Group, President of the Society and most recently Chairman of the Northern Section. Barry is leading the Society initiative in getting the Northern Section up and running and has been engaging employers within the North West encouraging them to support the sections events.
