CIPFA Bristol

Bristol and the surrounding area is home to a significant number of public sector organisations, including four unitary authorities, a government regional office, six primary care trusts, one strategic health authority, seven NHS trusts, eleven central government bodies and agencies, four universities and a plethora of further education colleges. Bristol also hosts offices of all of the 'big four' accountancy firms as well as a range of mid-tier and smaller firms.

There are around 200 CIPFA members and students living or working in Bristol. A sub region to the South Wales and South West Regional Council has been set up to provide a focus on and services to the Bristol area. We have organised a number of events so far and hope to continue to run events that are of interest to CIPFA members and students within the area.

The members of the group meet regulary in central Bristol after work to discuss ideas for events in the Bristol area on an informal basis. If you would like to find out when we are next meeting in Bristol please email cipfabristol@yahoo.com.

Event Highlights

Our first event was a Local Area Agreements seminar held at the Audit Commission in Stoke Gifford. Click on the link to see slides from the day as well as details of the speakers.

Our second event was the ambitious PFI conference which attracted around 160 delegates and was held at Bristol City Council. See additional details and slides from the day PFI Conference

70 local CIPFA members joined Steve Freer in Bristol on the 18th April 2007 whilst he spoke about 'The Role of Finance in Quality Improvement'. The Audit Commission's Louise Rickitt discussed 'Achieving Value for Money and Efficiency in the Public Sector' Click here for more details about the event.
