NEXT EVENT: National Museum Wales - 31/10/08

Retired members were sent a survey in 2006 asking which events they would like to attend. Talks about the Institute/public finance issues, visits to places of interest and lunch or dinner were the most popular subjects. A Golf Day was mentioned by a few. CIPFA retired invigilation panels
For some years now CIPFA have run panels of retired members who assist with invigilating at the CIPFA mock and real exams at various centres throughout the UK. At present the panels are organised by Dick Coppard, (Bristol) and by Arthur Boulter, (London, Birmingham and Edinburgh and Cardiff).
The duties are not onerous because subject to their availability most panel members probably do about 8 - 10 half day sessions a year either at the training establishments or the real examination venues. A fee is paid, (currently £25) and traveling expenses and a lunch are also paid for. There are no taxation issues because the institute have a special arrangement with the Inland Revenue. Volunteers are trained and not expected to undertake any duties, at first, unless accompanied by an experienced volunteer.
If you are interested in volunteering as an invigilator please contact dick.coppard@lineone.net or arthur@templemere13.freeserve.co.uk
