local authority capital and IFRS 13 practitioner workshops

08-10-2015

These FAN workshops explored a number of key ‘hot topics’ in relation to accounting for assets, capital expenditure and financing, with a particular focus on the potential impact of IFRS 13 Fair Value Measurement on the 2015/16 Statement of Accounts. The series looked at some areas where the devil was certainly in the detail, and highlighted issues where early actions by practitioners would assist with the preparation for this year’s closedown. The events also looked at the main messages and proposals in the Telling the Story consultation and the 2016/17 Accounting Code consultation, both closing on 9 October.

FAN welcomed feedback from practitioners on any areas covered in the workshops, specifically any practical application issues in relation to IFRS 13 and the proposals for the accounting for the Highways Network Asset or other areas that would benefit from further clarification or guidance.
