Below is a summary of the Policing for a Better Britain report published by the Independent Police Commission, led by Lord Stevens on 25 November. The summary is followed by an analysis of its implications for police forces and Police and Crime Commissioners.
The report is over 200 pages long and was commissioned by the Labour Party a year ago. It is a thorough report and tackles the areas of neighbourhood policing and partnerships through to governance, ethics and standards, developing a chartered status for the policing profession, structural change and making efficiencies.
