Budget 2012 A Briefing by CIPFA Networks

The 2012 Budget was a reminder that there is still a lot to do in terms of implementing further cuts in public spending. According to the IFS we are only 20% there at the moment. Sustained economic growth before 2015 cannot be relied upon and additional pressures may fall on the welfare budget to ensure that front-line services are protected. Local Authorities may be able to obtain cheaper PWLB borrowing if they demonstrate that they can properly plan and deliver upon their future capital spending programmes.
