The Public Services Social Value Act 2012 comes into effect from 31 January 2013, which places a duty on public authorities to consider how procurement for services might improve the economic, social and environmental well-being of the “relevant area”. There are no penalties for non-compliance; however it can be potential grounds for a judicial review challenge.
