Scotland benchmarking

The Scottish Property Benchmarking group is one of the success stories of local authorities working together to achieve a common goal.

The CIPFA Property Scotland Benchmarking Group is one of the success stories of local authorities working together to achieve a common goal. The group has now been meeting since March 2007 when eight councils began to work together and it now has representatives from 22 Scottish councils including the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

The group meets three times a year (usually in Perth) and has a common goal to deliver a more efficient and effective property estate. The group continues to maintain close working relationships with other asset management groups including FPS Scotland and the ACES asset management group and the meetings provide a forum to share and highlight examples of best practice and how to improve performance. During the coming year the group will be concentrating on the following areas:

  • understanding the implications of and responding to the Audit Scotland audit on asset management – Auditing Asset Management, Where to Go Next?
  • sharing best practice
  • continuing working with SFT, IS and SOLACE on Property Indicators.
