The CIPFA local authority budget comparative profiles have been developed in response to requests from local authorities from across England.

Our comparative profiles enable you to examine how your service costs compare to your peers, providing key decision-makers with a quick, inexpensive way to engage with the CIPFA/DCLG Revenue Account (RA) data for 2016/17, to support evidence-based decision making.

What do I get by ordering?

You will be provided with a Local authority budget profile pack, tailored to your individual authority and containing three sets of profiles, which compare your authority to:

  • all authorities across England
  • all other authorities within your region
  • your nearest neighbour grouping as defined by the CIPFA Nearest Neighbour Model.

In addition, you will receive an interactive Excel tool to enable you to analyse the data further and export charts for your own reports. You will also be able to request an additional profile compared with any selection of authorities at no additional charge.

How to order

Our Local authority budget profile pack for 2016/2017 is available for £475 + VAT for unitary and county authorities and £325 + VAT for district councils.

This profile is part of a small suite of the following three profiles:

  • Local authority budget (£475 unitary/county, £325 district)
  • Local authority expenditure (£475 unitary/county, £325 district)
  • Accuracy of financial forecasting (£250 unitary/county, £175 district)

All three profiles together provide you with a comprehensive view of your budgeted costs, actual costs and the comparison between the budgeted and actual figures. The entire suite can be purchased for the special discounted price of £950 for a unitary/county or £650 for a district. Discounts are also available for purchasing two of the three profiles.
