MScMSc Accounting & Finance (top-up) for holders of the CIPFA qualification

This masters top up programme has been developed to recognise the level and depth of your CIPFA qualification achieved by examination. To complete the MSc Accounting and Finance you will be required to study a research methods module, one further academic module and complete a dissertation.

The course is available on a part time basis attending one evening per week at Northampton Park Campus (Kingsthorpe) or by distance learning.

The programme has two entry dates late September and late January.

All masters’ students take a research methods module prior to undertaking the dissertation. The research methods module provides the skills necessary to effectively undertake and complete a research proposal that lays down the building blocks for the dissertation.

The dissertation will be on a topic agreed between you, your supervisor and if appropriate your employer. Recent graduates have completed research on market efficiency, ethics, risk management, auditing, CSR, management accounting, corporate governance, agency theory and business failure. For masters level work we expect most students to look for a topic which stretches them outside their usual daily work. This can be a pure research question or on a project that is both useful for your employer and takes you into an investigation away from your routine work.

In addition all students are expected to study an advanced module in Managing Strategic Change. As professionals rise up the managerial ladder they become less involved in technical issues in accounting and are involved in managing resources and people to achieve strategic goals. This module looks at the necessity for change in a competitive environment and links organisation strategy to the necessity for change. You are expected to review the ways that this can be managed.. This module integrates the assessment with work based experiences. Below is a link to the online application form
