Annual Governance Statements 2019/20

New Briefing – the Annual Governance Statement and Coronavirus

A new briefing is available for CIPFA Better Governance Forum subscribers setting out how the impact of the pandemic should be considered in the governance review and the statement itself.

The briefing can be downloaded from the website.

New deadlines for English authorities

The regulations to amend the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015 have now been published. This means that authorities in England have until 31 August to produce their draft AGS and accounts. The final versions must be published by 30 November. The Accounts and Audit (Coronavirus) (Amendment) Regulations 2020 can be accessed here.

Following the decision at the CIPFA/LASAAC meeting yesterday there will be no changes to the Code for 2019/20. CIPFA’s proposals to simplify and reduce the Code proved unacceptable to regulators and auditors. CIPFA press release
