Public sector staff are set to benefit from dedicated solutions to their organisation’s tax issues thanks to a new Tax Advisory Service developed by The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) and Deloitte.
The service, devised following consultation with CIPFA members, will enable subscribers to benefit from a wide range of innovative features and a more flexible pricing structure. Using the service will enable subscribers to gain quick and easy access to specialist advice on how to manage a range of tax issues, including: VAT, PAYE, NI, Corporation Tax and insurance Premium Tax.
Deloitte will also be working closely with CIPFA to help subscribers navigate the changing tax landscape, to provide their commentary and analysis on developments in the sector and to engage with stakeholders across Government and the public sector on strategic tax issues.
Managing Director of CIPFA Business, Jon Graham, said:
‘This new and exciting service will provide comprehensive and cost effective support to public sector finance staff. We are very confident that the combination of CIPFA's expertise in the public sector and Deloitte’s technical resources will ensure our subscribers will benefit.’
The Tax Advisory Service helpline will be staffed by a team of 15 of Deloitte’s regionally based Local Government tax specialists. They will be supported by a wider group of subject matter experts in other areas of the public sector such as Social Housing, Education and Health. A centralised telephone/email service will also be available so that they can respond promptly to queries.
Head of Deloitte Public Sector Tax, Simon Prinn said:
‘We are delighted to be appointed as CIPFA’s professional tax partner. We recognise that the plans for public sector reform in 2011 will produce a seismic shift in the tax landscape which will bring both challenges and opportunities. We are fully committed to delivering CIPFA’s renewed Tax Advisory Service and utilising our combined networks to represent the needs of members in the face of such significant changes and on-going uncertainty. We are tremendously excited about the planned programme of events and the opportunity it will offer to engage CIPFA’s members on the tax issues that really matter.’
