CIPFA is delighted to announce that Paul Woolston, a former Senior Partner at PwC, has been appointed as the Chairman of CIPFA Business.
Paul recently retired from PwC where he was Senior Partner at their Newcastle office. He is a CIPFA accountant and worked with PwC for 25 years and for the past eight years he led PwC’s UK Public Services Assurance Practice. Previously Paul was the lead partner with the Audit Commission for 15 years and also worked with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). He is also the Chair of the North East Local Enterprise Partnership and works with a number of charities.
Speaking on his appointment, Rob Whiteman CIPFA’s CEO said:

Paul Woolston graduated with a Politics degree from Warwick University, has a Master of Business Science from Manchester Business School and is a Lay Canon of Newcastle Cathedral.
He has worked at PwC, HMRC and the Audit Commission.
His interests are focussed around his family and then, football, opera, wine, and gardening.
