Rob Whiteman to join North East London Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) Board as independent chair


Rob Whiteman has been appointed as Chair of the North East London Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP).

In his role, he will convene the health and care economy for over seven London boroughs to achieve the outcomes of NHS England’s Five Year Forward View.

Commenting on his new role, Rob Whiteman said:

“I am delighted to be joining the North East London STP as chair. It is vital that local care and health services continue to deliver transformation and drive efficiency to meet the needs of patients now and in the future.”

Rob Whiteman is the CEO of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA), where he champions public service reform and modernisation across the public sector.

Previous to CIPFA, he has held chief executive positions at the UK Border Agency, London Borough of Barking & Dagenham and the Improvement & Development Agency.

He has many years of experience in senior roles in central and local government and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in public sector reform and innovation. During his tenure, Rob Whiteman will be stepping down from his role of non-executive director and chair of the audit committee at Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT).

He has held various other non-executive roles which include: NESTA, Whittington NHS Trust and the UK's Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) – where he was a board member and chair of audit committee until 2013.

He has also carried out the two capability reviews of the UK Department of Health for the Cabinet Office.
