Responding to COVID-19: insight, support and guidance

Talking about tomorrow:
Shaping successful local services

Local government is at a turning point, with councils reinventing the way they deliver services whilst also grappling with spending cuts on a scale never before experienced. Against this backdrop, many are struggling to be financially sustainable.

So how can councils develop a viable and stable future? What do their residents look for with regard to their local authorities? What is the future of local services provision – and how can they be made 'future fit'?

To help support local authorities, CIPFA has launched 'Talking about tomorrow' – an initiative aimed at engaging with all key stakeholders involved in local government.

Through a series of events this year, we are holding conversations with public finance professionals and elected members to explore how local services need to be re-shaped and funded in order to create a viable vision for the future.
