Steven is CIPFA’s technical lead on financial reporting and auditing standards as they apply to all parts of the public sector and wider public services, in the UK and internationally.

Steven trained and gained his CIPFA qualification at the National Audit Office. While there he came to specialise in audits of large financial systems. He also spent three years at the Treasury helping central government departments implement accrual based resource accounts.

He is part of the team which briefs Ian Carruthers, UK member chair of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB). He also represents CIPFA in UK CCAB working groups on European issues and in meetings with standard setting bodies. Steven briefs CIPFA's Accounting and Auditing Standards Panel, helping them develop the lion's share of CIPFA's responses to UK and international consultations on professional standards.
