Certificate in Financial Reporting for Academies

This course is aimed at school business managers and finance officers and will help you to develop the knowledge and skills required to play a key role in the financial management of academies. There are two study options available: Self-Study and Tutor led. All CIPFA members are entitled to a 10% discount.

Managing Small Projects

This four-hour e-learning course has been designed to help you successfully manage small projects. It covers the strategic elements of managing a project, how to plan for detailed activities and how to incorporate robust control and assurance mechanisms. Whistleblowing

A two-hour e-learning course for staff and managers who need to understand what whistleblowing is, what rights should be afforded to whistleblowers and the responsibilities of managers. All CIPFA members are entitled to a 10% discount.

Introduction to Sustainability in Procurement

This four-hour e-learning course offers a comprehensive introduction to the subject of sustainability in a procurement context. It explores what is required to ensure a sustainable approach to procurement and contract management when organisations are spending public monies with third parties. Introduction to Local Government Finance

This course lays out how local government finance is structured and funded in the UK — ideal for those in the sector looking to expand their knowledge. CIPFA members are entitled to a 10% discount.

Introduction to Treasury Management

An introduction to UK local authority treasury management intended for those with little or no specialist experience of this area, including councillors, finance staff, and new treasury staff. All CIPFA members are entitled to a 10% discount.

Finance Skills for Public Sector Managers

We have developed a range of modules especially for budget and cost centre managers working in non-finance roles. Focusing on the knowledge and skills needed to effectively and efficiently manage their area's finances, these modules can be taken independently or as part of the Diploma in Finance Skills for Public Sector Managers.

Free Ethics

Our research has shown that, at some point in their career, the majority of accountants will come under some form of ethical pressure. Both an introduction to the principles of ethics and a refresher, this e-learning module offers a practical insight into how ethics can impact public finance professionals and features important reference materials. The e-learning is free of charge for all CIPFA members and students.

Change Management

Effective change management skills can support business transformation. We now offer foundation and practitioner level change management training designed to help those charged with effectively planning, implementing, and managing change initiatives in their organisations. The course is delivered through our partner Knowledge Train where CIPFA members will receive 20% off this course.

Project Management

Project management skills and techniques are increasingly in demand. Choose from either PRINCE2® training, the accepted international standard for project management or AgilePM training, which focuses on an iterative approach to delivering a project throughout its life cycle. Financial Services

CIPFA has partnered with Intuition Know-How to give you access to over 500 online tutorials on investment and financial services for the public sector. The e-learning is designed to help you and local authorities comply with the requirements of MiFID II (Markets in Financial Instruments Directive).

Better Business Cases Foundation level

The Better Business Cases™ Foundation e-learning offers a comprehensive introduction to developing a business case using the 'Five Case Model' and HM Treasury's guidance, and is delivered via CIPFA's virtual learning environment. The e-learning modules cover exactly the same content as the face-to-face foundation course, including tips and advice on good practice, pitfalls to avoid, mock exam questions, case studies and examples.

International Public Sector Accounting Standards qualifications

To support national governments, state enterprises and public sector institutions around the world as they move towards implementing IPSAS, we offer a Diploma and Certificate in the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).

Anti-bribery and Corruption package

We have worked with Professor Alan Doig, a leading expert and academic, to develop a package of anti-bribery and corruption e-learning tools. The package includes an in-depth course exploring the UK Bribery Act 2010 and a short interactive slide set that can be shared with all staff.
