Local exams

Local Invigilator (at work)

Local exams are taken on the student's computer, but are sat at the student's place of work. These are invigilated by an appropriate member of staff.

How do I sit a local exam?

Students sit their exams through Calibrand's CIPFA Assessment. Local exams are recommended to students who don’t have a stable internet connection.

When is my exam?

Exam dates can be found towards the bottom of our exams page.

Will I require the internet?

Yes. An internet connection is needed to open the exam. Calibrand however works with HTML5, meaning that you can still take the test offline should you lose access to the internet. This technology allows you to download your exam as an encrypted file, which can then be emailed to us once you have regained access to the internet.

How are local exams invigilated?

Local exams are supervised by in person invigilators. Students liaise with either their line or programme manager to select a suitable invigilator.

Is my computer compatible with CIPFA’s examining site?

To see if your device is compatible with our examining site, please visit the Calibrand testing site.

Most students will sit their exams at their UN office. Students liaise with either their line or programme manager to select a suitable exam space.

What identification will I need to sit the exam?

You will need to present either a valid driver’s license or passport.

Are toilet breaks permitted during the exam?

Yes. Please inform the invigilator that you would like to exit the exam room by raising your hand.

What should I do if there in a disturbance during the exam?

Should you encounter a major disturbance during your exam (e.g. a fire alarm), you may leave the exam room. Once the disruption is over and you have returned to your desk the invigilator will restart the exam.
