Responding to COVID-19: insight, support and guidance

Guidance for current CIPFAstats subscribers

The introduction of our new platform has given us the opportunity to make some improvements to the CIPFAstats service – now CIPFAstats+. From a significantly enhanced visual experience, to an expanded range of datasets and a simplified pricing structure, our intention has been to create a more comprehensive, easily accessible resource for you and your colleagues.

The new CIPFAstats+ subscription will come into effect on 1 April 2021, at the beginning of the subscription year.

But as a current CIPFAstats subscriber, you can now access the new platform and all of the CIPFAstats+ products as part of a free trial that we are running until 31 October 2020. Scroll down to find links to all of the elements that are now included.

If you wish to extend this trial period right up until 31 March 2021, when the current subscription year ends, we will charge you a one-off fee of £1,500 +VAT (or £1,000 +VAT for district councils). This will then be deducted from your 2021/ 22 subscription fee.

If you don’t wish to extend your trial period, you will of course continue to have access to the current platform, Housing 360, VfM Toolkit and Nearest Neighbour Model. We will then invite you to join the new CIPFAstats+ subscription early in 2021, as part of the usual subscription renewal process.

On this page we have set out everything you now have access to as part of the CIPFAstats+ trial period, including all the relevant links and our updated pricing structure.

What is included in the CIPFAstats+ subscription?

From now until 31 October 2020, you have access to the full CIPFAstats+ suite of products, listed below. To gain the most from the pages below, make sure you’re logged into the CIPFA website before using the links.

The new platform, which has already been populated with the majority of datasets from the General Finance and Police CIPFAstats themes (in the coming months, all remaining CIPFAstats datasets will be migrated to the new platform).

Can anyone within my organisation access CIPFAstats+?

Yes, and we’d encourage you to share this page with your colleagues, so they too can experience CIPFAstats+. All they need to do is register on the CIPFA website (if they haven’t done so already) and create their own login. They will then be able to access all the data, publications and interactive tools using the links above.

How much will the new CIPFAstats+ subscription cost?

From 1 April 2021, the new CIPFAstats+ subscription will cost £8,000 + VAT (and £5,000 +VAT for district councils). If you elect to pay the one-off fee of £1,500 +VAT (or £1,000 +VAT for district councils), this will be deducted from your 2021/ 22 subscription fee.

The new flat fee includes all of the elements listed above and represents exceptional value for money – there is not a more comprehensive source of local government data available on the market.

How can I keep updated on the changes?

We will be sending a new monthly newsletter to keep everyone updated as we move from to the new platform. If you’d like to receive this newsletter, follow the steps below:

  • When you have registered, login and go to 'MyCIPFA'
