Job description, key responsibilities and experience
CIPFA-Penna are supporting a dynamic unitary council who are in search of an Interim Assistant Director of Finance. This authority has undergone significant change in recent years and is currently engaged in several transformation and improvement projects, resulting in increases workflow and a subsequent demand for extra resource.
Working closely with the organisation’s current Director of Finance and wider senior leadership team, the successful candidate will support on improving financial resilience and governance across the council, oversee the provision of a high-quality business partnering service and support the Director of Finance on a council-wide restructure and key transformation programme.
To be considered, you’ll ideally have had recent experience at a senior leadership level within a local authority/local government organisation (preferably at Director or Assistant Director level). A fully qualified accountant (CIPFA, ACCA, ACA or CIMA), you’ll have demonstrable leadership qualities coupled with sound technical knowledge of local government finance, and good examples of providing insightful financial and operational guidance to transformation programmes and/or restructures.
