Doncaster Council is an ambitious mayoral authority with a clear purpose to ensure Doncaster and its people thrive and value for money is at the heart of everything the council does.

The council and its partners in Team Doncaster are clear that the next few years represent a massive opportunity for Doncaster. This post will be our statutory Section 151 officer, working closely with our director of corporate resources, cabinet members, across the council and with local partners to deliver our priorities and ‘Doncaster Growing Together’ ambitions.

We’re looking for a high performing and experienced senior finance professional who has supported a complex organisation to identify and realise significant savings, whilst delivering its growth priorities. As well as leading teams to perform at their very best, you’ll be responsible for taking council finances into the future. As the council’s s151 officer your expert finance knowledge will enable you to provide high-level financial advice and guidance to inform business critical decisions, whilst contributing to the corporate leadership of the council by leading strategic initiatives that support our long-term vision.

You’ll be a robust, professional leader with demonstrable experience of operating as a director of finance, or an aspiring assistant director of finance, who has managed significant change. You’ll be CCAB-qualified, preferably CIPFA. Analytical, creative and politically aware, you’ll be an ambassador for the council, with excellent leadership and people skills and a clear customer focus.
