Directors of Finance

North Northamptonshire Council and West Northamptonshire Council Salary: Up to £140k

Shape the future.

Northamptonshire has a lot to offer – a great history, thriving industries and beautiful towns. And with lots of handy transport links, we’re also an easily accessible county, situated right in the heart of England. We’re proud of our heritage, but we’re excited about our future. It’s an exciting time, as we’re now creating two brand-new unitary councils in both the North and West of Northants. As Director of Finance in one of the new authorities you’ll be pivotal in shaping the future of the service and the organisation.

You’ll take the financial lead across the council on a wide range of projects, as well as being the designated Section 151 Officer, making this a truly varied role. Acting as a strategic change maker, you’ll shape and grow a brand-new organisation. You’ll do this by providing strong leadership and working collaboratively with the community, members, leaders and stakeholders. It also means you’ll come up with strategies that ensure public money is safeguarded and used appropriately, economically, efficiently and effectively. Plus, you’ll aim to find new financial opportunities, while keeping our residents and businesses at the forefront of your decisions.

You’ll need to be appropriately qualified. Experience of leading large and complex finances essential, and preferably in a local government setting. You’ll need proven experience of managing resources and risk, paired with a high-level of political awareness. Importantly, you’ll need to be self-motivated, have great interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to changes with a positive approach. With your confidence and background, you’ll hit the ground running.

We’ve got the chance to improve what’s gone before. We’re not afraid to make bold decisions and do things differently. So, when you join, you’ll be an advocate for the council and transform the lives of our residents. And you’ll shape our future. For further information go to
