There has never been such an exciting time to work for Sandwell Council. This summer saw the opening of the new Aquatics Centre in the Borough which hosted the Commonwealth Games swimming events. The Council has an ambitious corporate transformation plan and finance sits at the heart of it.
The last year has seen the strengthening of the finance resource since the appointment of a new Director of Finance, with the focus on providing a structure with increased strategic finance resources to make a ‘step change’ in how the Council manages its financial resources. A key strand of this is the move to a business partnering approach with more engagement from budget holders and finance staff providing better analysis and strategic advice.
What we’re looking for
Sandwell is looking to recruit a Finance Business Partner – Housing which reports to the Head of Finance Business Partnering Place. The role will be responsible for providing the finance business partnering service to the Housing Departments.
About you
You will be a qualified accountant with experience of business partnering and providing financial support to a council with a Housing Revenue Account.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop the finance business partnering approach and lead on the internal finance support to the Housing Revenue Account Business Plan. A consistent and high quality standard of financial management across the organisation is the aim with the Council committed to ensuring all staff both finance and service managers are trained with the appropriate skills.
