As part of a dedicated finance team you will be joining a council that is exploring more ways to be innovative and creative in the way we deliver our services following the decision to bring a range of corporate services back in-house. You will support and deputise for the Head of Corporate Services & Section 151 Officer in the financial management of the council, taking the lead on day-to-day operational finance matters. The culture is supportive, with a positive feel about the place and a strong sense of direction for the future.  

As Finance Manager and Deputy S151, you will champion innovative and creative approaches to new and improved ways of working, and offer a proactive and politically sensitive approach to matters, often in the strictest confidence. You will provide sound budget management of all Council budgets including £40m pa revenue turnover, £70m capital programme over next five years, and £50m commercial property investment. You will also provide oversee management of outsourced finance contracts. This is also a great opportunity to deputise for the s151 Officer as required.

Ideally you will be a CCAB qualified accountant and will be able to demonstrate a strong track record in an understanding of local government finance and broader corporate services. You will have extensive knowledge, experiences and a clear understanding of commercial developments and their application to local government. You must be confident and experienced in working with elected members and senior officers.
