Job description, key responsibilities and experience
Salary: £40,578–£43,570.
Closing date for applications: Monday 19 September 2022.
Bath and North East Somerset (BANES) are looking for a Financial Accounting and Treasury Management Group Accountant.
Are you driven by results? Can you combine incisive analysis of information and regulations with provision of guidance to colleagues? If you’re a finance professional looking for a fresh challenge, why not become our next Financial Accounting and Treasury Management Group Accountant?
This key role, providing strategic and professional finance support, will give you the chance to develop and manage all aspects of treasury management and group financial reporting, and some of the control accounting across the council.
Directly responsible to the Corporate Finance Manager, you’ll play a key role in the production of the council’s statutory accounts, including leading on the production of group accounts by consolidating the council’s financial statements with those of its wholly owned companies. You will also manage a small team of assistant corporate accountants who carry out treasury management, bank reconciliation and control accounting across the council’s ledger and financial feeder systems.
We are looking for a finance professional, ideally with experience of working in a local authority or similarly complex organisation. You should be comfortable analysing a multi-dimensional financial picture alongside the latest market conditions, without compromising your keen eye for detail.
You’ll proactively anticipate, research, interpret and analyse current and proposed financial regulations, determining their effect on the council and its reporting requirements.
You will have advanced Excel skills and have experience of financial modelling. You will also have excellent communication skills and enjoy working in a team but will also be comfortable working on your own to meet tight deadlines.
Your main place of work will be the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station five minutes’ walk away.
Closing date: Monday 19 September 2022
Interview date: Wednesday 5 October 2022.
