Financial Planning and Strategy Manager

Reading; salary up to c £83,000

Shaping Reading’s financial future

Reading has long been considered a great place to live and work. With a thriving economy, low unemployment rate and excellent transport links – with Crossrail developments underway – the borough offers a vibrant and thriving space for its residents, workers and visitors.

The council has ambitious plans for sustained financial and commercial growth across the borough. Following a restructure within the Finance Service, we are seeking a Financial Planning & Strategy Manager to further support the delivery of our transformation programme.

With a relevant professional CCAB Accountancy qualification, you will bring a wealth of technical and people management expertise, enabling you to coordinate the development of the council's medium term financial planning, lead the implementation of our capital and investment strategies, as well as strengthen financial reporting and business partnering activity across the council. You will be an experienced senior leader with experience of leading and commercialising public sector finances, alongside a solid track record of advising at senior management and Cabinet or Committee level.

As a strong leader of people, you will motivate, inspire and coach your teams across the capital, treasury and financial planning areas, generating a strong consensus around truly embedding effective financial management across the wider council. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, you will support our strategic aims to ensure the council is 'fit for the future' and our ambition for Reading to continue being a safe, attractive and flourishing place to live, work and visit.
