Responding to COVID-19: insight, support and guidance

Head of Corporate Services S151 Officer

Hart District Council Fleet, Hampshire; c£85,000

Named best place to live in the UK for five years running, the district of Hart continues to grow and prosper. We’re committed to making sure that our area remains an amazing place for our 91,000+ residents. But to provide outstanding, value for money services, we need you to help us progress, evolve and innovate.

As part of the senior leadership team you will be joining a council that is exploring more ways to be innovative and creative in the way we deliver our services following the decision to bring a range of corporate services back in-house. You will champion and drive the council’s exciting transformation agenda to build capacity to enable the council to continue to support the delivery of excellent services to our residents. The culture is supportive, with a positive feel about the place and a strong sense of direction for the future.
As Head of Corporate Services and S151, you will contribute to driving forward the council’s Corporate Plan and supporting key strategies, initiatives and action plans. You will also be the councils’ most senior financial advisor, ensuring the effective management of the council’s resources with a well-resourced internal finance capacity.

As a CCAB qualified accountant you will be able to demonstrate a strong track record in and understanding of local government finance and broader corporate services. The role requires you to be organised, accurate and able to work under pressure to both pre-determined as well as ad hoc deadlines. You must be confident and experienced in working with elected members and senior officers and be able to think logically and plan ahead. Your inspirational leadership style will be key to ensure that the service is empowered and motivated to create the energy and pace that will achieve change.
