There has never been such an exciting time to work for Sandwell Council. This year saw the opening of the new Aquatics Centre in the Borough which hosted the Commonwealth Games swimming events. The Council has an ambitious corporate transformation plan and finance sits at the heart of it.

The last year has seen the strengthening of the finance resource since the appointment of a new Director of Finance, with the focus on providing a structure with increased strategic finance resources to make a ‘step change’ in how the Council manages its financial resources. A key strand of this is the move to a business partnering approach with more engagement from budget holders and finance staff providing analysis and strategic advice.

What we’re looking for

Sandwell is looking to recruit a Head of Finance Business Partnering - Place which reports direct to the Assistant Director Finance. The role will be responsible for managing the finance business partnering function supporting the Housing, Regeneration, Borough Economy and Corporate Departments. A key area of finance support will be to the Council’s external waste contract.

About you

You will be a qualified accountant with significant post qualification experience of business partnering and managing teams.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop the finance business partnering approach and lead the development of finance staff. Providing a consistent and high quality standard across the finance function is the aim with the Council committed to ensuring staff are trained with the appropriate skills.
