Responding to COVID-19: insight, support and guidance

Head of Finance

Northampton Children's Trust; £72,400 - £85,046 – with hybrid/flexible opportunities

About us
We’re Northamptonshire Children’s Trust, an independent, not-for-profit organisation established in November 2020 to deliver children’s services to both North and West Northamptonshire Councils.

Our ambition is to improve the lives of children and their families, with a focus on ensuring a positive impact on those most in need of protection and care. Operationally independent from the Councils, we have a unique opportunity to be more agile and adaptable in our approach to delivery, and to explore new ways of working. We’re developing a culture that allows the highest standard of service to flourish so that we can consistently deliver the best outcomes for children, young people and our community.

About the role
As the Head of Finance, you’ll lead the stewardship of our financial resources, ensuring effective budget and financial strategy to help improve our services and enhance the overall value for money to service users. You’ll play a vital role in both strategy and operations when it comes to finance within Northamptonshire Children’s Trust (NCT), helping to deliver our objectives sustainably, and in the public interest. You’ll also work closely with funding councils for NCT, proactively implementing new ways of working to drive continuous and sustained performance improvements. That’s why you’ll have extensive experience in finance and the local government and be fully qualified in accountancy with current registration.

In line with NCT’s plan, you’ll develop and deliver financial and budgetary strategies, ensuring they’re achievable, affordable and cost effective. And you’ll provide financial planning, monitoring and management across all services to ensure that service delivery planning and decision making is made in the context of resource management. What’s more, you’ll provide leadership and direction for the finance services team, communicating NCT’s vision, objectives and values, to deliver the agreed services and maintain a collaborative culture. This is a really great opportunity for someone who is ambitious and wants to leave a mark because you’ll have the chance to shape the finance team and service for a newly formed organisation.

Working for the Children’s Trust

When you work with us, we’ll expect a lot from you, but there’s also a lot you’ll get in return. As well as a generous holiday entitlement and a fantastic employee discount scheme, we also offer additional maternity leave options and the chance to be part of the local government pension scheme. Plus, we’re committed to building a skilled, knowledgeable and flexible workforce, that promotes innovation and strives for continuous improvement – so you’ll benefit from great training, as well as loads of development opportunities. Join us and you’ll be part of an inclusive, supportive environment where you’re empowered to make good professional decisions and take your career to new heights.
