Interim Chief Accountant
Home working/West of England, interim, three to six months, competitive day rate
CIPFA-Penna are working in partnership with a large local authority in search of an Interim Chief Accountant to support the technical team on the upcoming accounts closure process. The role be at least three months and will be fully remote/home-based. There is also an option to work part-time (three days per week) if this is more suitable for the preferred candidate.
Working closely with the Deputy S151 Officer and Head of Strategic Finance (and the wider financial accounting team), the successful candidate will contribute to completion of core statements and notes on the annual financial statement, as well as reviewing work from and giving technical guidance to trainee members of the team. You will also support the team through the subsequent audit process, preparing for anticipated queries in order to make the audit process as smooth as possible.
We're looking for qualified finance professionals (CIPFA or equivalent) within local government finance, ideally with good experience of technical accounting and supporting the accounts closure process within a local authority environment.
