Job description, key responsibilities and experience
CIPFA-Penna are partnering a South-East based local authority organisation to support in the recruitment of a Senior Management Accountant. The role is offered on an interim basis for an initial period of 3 months (with a strong possibility that they’ll need someone for longer) and will primarily support the Place & Housing services.
As a Senior Management Accountant stepping in for an out-going member of permanent staff and managing a small team, the successful post-holder will largely be responsible for budget planning and preparation, coordination of revenue monitoring, budget monitoring and budget setting, accounting for grant income and analysis of various initiatives and schemes within the place directorate. Guiding the workload and signing off the work of the team, you’ll also take a ‘hands-on’ approach and meet with many budget-holders yourself – acting as their primary finance business partner.
Previous experience in a similar role within the housing and/or place directorate of another local authority would be advantageous, as would strong excel skills and relationship-building qualities (in particular, with non-finance people).
