Treasury Management & Taxation Group Accountant

12 months FTC; Cambridgeshire/Northamptonshire

LGSS is one of the largest public sector shared ventures of its kind in the UK; we are a shared service collaboration between three councils: Cambridgeshire County Council, Northamptonshire County Council and Milton Keynes Council. We have an opportunity for a Treasury Management/Taxation Accountant to join us for a period of 12 months, with the potential for the role to go permanent. 

Based in our Cambridge LGSS office, you will support clients in Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire, liaising with business partner finance colleagues and other key stakeholders where relevant, so there will be some travel between locations where required. 

This is a pivotal role in ensuring robust treasury management processes and practices are in place. The ideal candidate will have experience:
  • leading in budget monitoring of debt finance budgets
  • contributing to the financial instruments disclosure notes required as part of the statement of accounts and their compliance with the CIPFA Code on local authority accounting
  • operationally in treasury and taxation (approving daily treasury management and responding to VAT queries)
  • identifying and acting on areas of improvement, efficiency and convergence in treasury management and taxation.
This is an exciting role within LGSS being part of the Integrated Finance Service, which will give you excellent exposure across multiple LGSS partners and customers as well as the ability to help shape and develop the team.
