Financial Services 

CIPFA has partnered with Intuition Know-How to give you access to over 500 online tutorials on investment and financial services for the public sector. The e-learning is designed to help you and local authorities comply with the requirements of MiFID II (Markets in Financial Instruments Directive).

'Lunch and learn' webinars

Our expanding range of on-demand webinars are ideal for picking up information, hints, tips and knowledge wherever you are and on any internet-enabled device. We cover technical accounting and financial reporting, commercial, leadership and governance, risk and counter fraud skills. 

Anti-bribery and corruption package

We have worked with the leading expert and academic, Professor Alan Doig, to develop a package of anti-bribery and corruption e-learning tools. The package includes an in-depth course exploring the UK Bribery Act 2010 and a short interactive slide set that can be shared with all staff.

Better Business Cases Foundation level

CIPFA is an accredited trainer in Better Business Cases™, a Treasury initiative to up-skill those involved in preparing or reviewing business cases. The training is made up of two levels, Foundation and Practitioner. The Foundation level offers a comprehensive introduction to developing a business case using the ‘Five Case Model’ and HM Treasury’s guidance and can be completed online or face-to-face.

Finance for the non-financial manager

A course aimed at those with budgetary responsibilities but no formal finance training. It focuses on the basics of financial accounting and through simple exercises, will extend your understanding of the key concepts and help you to report financial information. A corporate license is available for organisations. 

Good governance in the public sector

This e-learning course provides a starting point for reviewing and improving governance within your organisation. It examines the prerequisites for effective governance based upon principles that can be applied to any public service organisation.

IPSAS overview

Practitioners working in the public services need to consider how International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) are reflected in their organisation’s financial reporting. This e-learning course provides an overview of the main differences between International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and IPSAS. 

Practical understanding of asset management

This is a short 30 minute e-learning session covering the essential elements of property asset management, aimed at anyone in the public sector who wants to learn about property asset management or who would like a refresher in this area.

PRINCE2®

PRINCE2® is the accepted standard for project management in the UK and CIPFA delivers PRINCE2® training with a strong public sector focus. The training is highly interactive and made up of two levels, Foundation and Practitioner. It is ideally suited to project managers, project administrators and project sponsors.

Whistleblowing

We have worked with the leading whistleblowing charity, Protect (formerly Public Concern at Work) and audit, advisory, accounting and tax specialists Mazars to create an accessible, easy to navigate e-learning course on whistleblowing. It is designed for use in organisations, to show all staff how to raise and report concerns at work.
