Event summary

Playing the Long Game - Taking a Strategic View of Highway Network Asset Management.

Globally there has been heightened attention given to climate change, and in the UK we have seen school pupils striking to get their message across as well as the rise of the extinction rebellion campaign.

Whatever you think of those campaigns, the pressure to take action is increasing, and earlier this year the UK Government made a new commitment to reduce all greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050 - the most ambitious target in the world.

At this event, we will be exploring how this will be affecting highway asset management in both the short and long term.

About this event

Last year, transport contributed approximately a third of all emissions in the UK.  Facing such significant challenges, what does this mean for highway authorities and their infrastructure in the short, medium and long term?

To what extent might these issues impact on network requirements, asset portfolio, decision making processes and future funding?

We will be exploring these issues in our September series of events.
