The CIPFA Benefits and Revenues Service (CBRS) provides an annual series of benefits subsidy events on the arrangements for the housing benefit subsidy calculation and the completion of the housing benefit subsidy claim form.
This event will provide fully updated and comprehensive information on the subsidy claim arrangements for the 2019/20 financial year and will use the subsidy claim form as the framework for a comprehensive analysis of the overall housing benefit subsidy arrangements, including identifying those areas contributing most to subsidy loss and therefore costs to local authorities, along with suggestions on how to minimise such costs.

Sheldon has 16 years' local government experience, including as Principal Benefits Officer at Sheffield City Council, where he managed the service and implemented major changes to the council's benefits administration. He joined the CIPFA Benefits and Revenues Service (CBRS) in 2003 and has trained and advised members of the team on all aspects of benefits legislation and local authority benefits service administration, focusing on the changes required as a result of successive government welfare reform policies and change programmes.
