About this event

Working in the public sector, and in particular procurement, is a very challenging and rewarding experience. The procurement landscape is equally changing very rapidly and the role of public officials is under increasing scrutiny.

This event provides practical guidance on the current EU and UK rules to help new staff and those who have recently taken on a procurement role as part of their revised job description to become more effective.

Who should attend?

The workshop is aimed at new staff working in the procurement department, as well as experienced staff who have had no formal procurement training or who would like to update their knowledge and skills. Other staff that have responsibility for making purchasing decisions, tendering or contract management would also benefit from the course.

Benefits of attending

By attending the event, delegates will:

  • develop an understanding and practical awareness of key UK and EU legislation regarding public procurement
  • understand the different procurement procedures that need to be followed to procure common supplies and services
  • be introduced to framework agreements, the light touch regime and other key concepts
  • get an update on recent case law and future directions of procurement in the UK
  • take part in practical group work sessions to allow knowledge to be applied in the office environment.
