Neil has been a CIPFA Advisor for pensions and treasury management since 2009, running networks on both subjects with over 150 subscribing authorities combined. He represents CIPFA and Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) Funds at various key events and also attends CIPFA pensions panels. He also organises workshops and conferences, produces newsletters, and co-ordinates queries to support members and promote best practice.

Bob was formerly head of alternatives and Chief Risk Officer at Pension Corporation, a leading UK pension buyout firm with over £20bn in assets under its stewardship today. He is also co-founder of the Insurance Investment Exchange, the leading forum for UK insurers to debate investment issues and trends. Bob is a Senior Visiting Fellow at Cass Business School and on the Advisory Council of the Columbia Committee for Global Thought. He has also sat on numerous boards, industry committees and consortia. Bob is a well respected author and commentator on macroeconomic, investment and regulatory issues, with his work featuring in the Financial Times, Economist, Guardian, IPE and Room151 amongst others. His latest book is the critically acclaimed bestseller, Money Mania, which examines the themes underlying the last 25 centuries of financial crises and the lessons to be learnt. Bob has a PhD in cosmology from Imperial College London and a MA(Hons) from the University of Cambridge.
