Your Practical Experience Portfolio (PEP) is your chance to show wide-ranging and relevant workplace experience in accounting

Practical finance experience in public sector accounting complements your module study. Completing your practical experience portfolio gives you the chance to form the good professional development practices that you’ll continue as a CIPFA member in CIPFA’s continuing professional development scheme.

Managing and submitting your PEP has become easier. The templates and guidance notes below are all you will need to submit your portfolio. Included is a useful Excel tool with an easy navigation dashboard and automatic calculations of workplace experience by Statement of Expertise (SOE).

Log of 400 days

Logged against eight areas of the Statement of Expertise. You need to log three professional activities. Each log must describe how you planned and carried out the activities ethical considerations, two supporting pieces of evidence and an employer validation form. At least one activity must include an oral presentation.

CPD learning and development plan

The first year of the CPD Learning and Development Plan. This is not necessary if working for a CIPFA Accredited Employer, these students should enclose proof of the company's accredited status with their portfolio instead. Students can check if their employer has CIPFA CPD accreditation by logging into My CIPFA and checking 'my organisation memberships' on the profile page.
