On the 26th of June, George Osborne introduced his spending round as one of “reform, growth and fairness”. A spending round (SR) rather than a spending review, its purpose is to set out how the government intends to spend £745bn across each public policy area in 2015/16. This SR is an addition to the comprehensive spending review (CSR) 2010 which covered the three-year period to 2014/15. This addition was necessary due to the timing of the next general election, which will fall in May of the 2015/16 financial year. The attached briefing from the CIPFA FAN provides an essential guide to the SR 2013 outcomes and implications and is intended as a guide for public finance practitioners
