About this event
Impower believes that “better outcomes cost less” and that this should be the primary ambition behind budget-setting and medium-term financial planning by local authorities. This is especially the case when complex demand-led services such as social care, SEND and home-to-school transport are causing existential medium or near-term risks for a significant proportion of authorities. In these areas traditional salami-slicing can do more harm than good.
In our discussion we would like to explore with you:
- the challenges in making the case for good savings and cost avoidance (such as prevention and demand management),
- approaches to making good savings the default in complex service areas such as social care,
- the role of the CFO in enabling delivery of good savings whilst balancing risk and reward,
- best practice for improving capability, grip and assurance in delivery,
- how organisations can better capture and communicate the impact of good savings being delivered,
- how to improve confidence when making the case for multi-year invest-to-save.
